The design goal for this salon was to provide the experience of an environment dedicated to beauty through the dynamic organisation of space. The transformation begins with the interior design of sinuous surfaces: their fluidity and smoothness perceived both in their entirety and individually. The visual and spatial continuity is inspired by the baroque and rococo architectures that blurred the functionality of architectonic design almost to the point of hiding it. Other sources of inspiration for the fluctuating surfaces of the salon’s interior design can also be found in hairstyling techniques: the movement of long loose hair and other different hair styles, like plaits and braids or the so-called "water wave".
As a final feature, the salon evokes and conveys tranquility and relaxation. The space is enriched by the combination of shapes, materials and unusual textures, and by the variation of colour tonalities and of light diffusion, both suggesting new "emotional" and sensorial spatial qualities. The particular furnishing accessories for the different areas of the salon have all been designed by the Studio.
Reception, consultation and make-up areas: flowing wall panels made with Corian® solid surface.
The reception space serves a variety of purposes. It delicately welcomes and gradually introduces the client into the various salon areas. Sinuous wall panels made with Corian® solid surface in Glacier White are placed side by side to mark the entrance, waiting space, and refreshment area. The curved extremity of the wall encloses the area for personal consultation with the stylist. A series of openings in the wall panels made with Corian® solid surface, created via thermoforming and CNC techniques, allow a glimpse at the other sections of the salon, a kind of "now-I-see-you-now-I-don't" alternating between separation and visual connection. Corian® solid surface, cut to form the openings, is curved and bent into a shelf, a product-holder, and a display stand. The reception also contains an area for natural well-being products that may be purchased without the need of requesting additional treatments or services from the salon.
